Work weekend at Manitou

We went up to Manitou in May for the first time in years to

help Mom and Dad get ready for the work on Uncle Eric's cottage. May is still pretty early up there and the ice had only left the lake the week before we arrived. The weather was unseasonably gorgeous and even though the lake was still really cold the boys were so excited to play at the beach. My feet had a hard time being in the water for more than a few minutes at a time, but the boys played happily in the cold water for hours, They were also excited to get out in the canoe and visit the community center. The shallows by the Community Center were just teeming with American Toads mating and making strings of eggs which was a really neat experience to watch....
